Dealing a Not-so-lame Game: Kishor Gordhandas' choice collection of playing cards includes decks from India and Japan, some of these have circular cards and if you think 52 cards is comprises a deck, think again -- he has decks with 96, or 108, or 120 hand painted cards. Then there is Bob Lawrence's Gallery of Unusual Playing Cards.

Chinese cards may be seen at The World of Playing Cards, while The Museum of Games and Archives at the University of Waterloo offers still more information.

  • Quite nice. This is set is quite interesting. Would love to see the entire pack(s). I recall from years back a Japanese acquaintence telling me another version of the Japanese card game, which was akin to a highly literate version of Snap. All the cards are placed face up in random order. Two players face each other, and a referee states a line of poetry. Each card is associated with a poem, and ANY line of that poem can may be spoken. The players race to locate and place their hand over the correct card. Also, perhaps this might interest card enthusiasts. Tarot packs have fascinated me for years, and some of the sets are really quite mind-bending. If anyone knows any other tarot review sites, I would love to have a link. Thank ye kindly.
  • This might have what what you're interested in, Alnedra.
  • Very nice, beeswacky. Many thanks :) Totoro's one of my favourite anime ever. But I find the color backgrounds in that set a little garish.
