• I was never interested in the Bible until now. Good read? It's not a bad read, but the trick is to get a really good, modern translation. A really good one is the The English Standard Version (ESV), which was published to bridge the gap between the accuracy of the NASB and the readability of the NIV. It's quite interesting, especially the hot sex scene/erotic love poetry (Song of Songs.

• It's not a bad read, but the trick is to get a really good, modern translation. I grew up on the KJV, so I guess I'm a bit prejudiced, but you can't beat it for sheer poetry and power and beauty of language. I can certainly see the benefits of a modern translation, but somewhere along the way don't deny yourself a dip into the KJV just for the sensory experience. IIRC, having read the KJV from a very early age, when I came to read Shakespeare in school it was like reading the newspaper. I just didn't get why the other kids had trouble understanding it.
