Brought some flashbacks about watching this on some n-th generation-copy tape back in the... late past century. Damn. But it's the good kind of flashback.

Wwooooowwwwww, that totally took me back. Waaaay back. I didn't think anyone even knew who he was!

Wow. So, did anyone make it all the way through Argh's video? And Argh, that IS you, right?

Eeew.

Klaus Nomi! How too cool! Like Darshon, I too am amazed that anybody remembers Klaus. Does anybody recall David Bowie co-opting Nomi's look for a Saturday Night Live appearance, with Nomi actually singing back-up vocals? Talk about an 80s moment... I thought Nomi was unique, visually and aurally amazing. Too bad his life was so brief.

Seriously,,George Jones(1950)

Fun With Clothespins
-
I remember the SNL bit, where Bowie was encased in a silver costume with the Klaus Nomi shoulders, and had to be carried out by the band. I've seen a clip of Boys Keep Swinging, also with Klaus Nomi singing backup, that I'm pretty sure is from the same show. (It must be, right?)

Har! Great clothespins bit!

Psychobilly Freakout

You're right, VeraGemini, it was the same show (the other song was "Man Who Sold the World"). Bowie stole Nomi's look for his appearance, but only Nomi could really do Nomi properly. And that Nomi voice! Nothing like it. His version of "Ding Dong, the Witch is Dead" is also pretty astounding. We surely did lose a lot of amazing and irreplaceable people in the early waves of the AIDS epidemic.
