Doctor Who and the terrifying man.
On Sunday November 22nd, 1987, at around 11:15pm, a Video "Pirate" wearing a Max Headroom mask broke into the signal and transmitted one of the weirdest, unauthorized things ever to hit the Chicago airwaves. (youtube links, again)
I think the best thing about it might be the Doctor's line as it cuts back the show. Its quite brilliant timing

oh no a spelling mistake in the title I am ashamed
-
'Twas the pirate made you do it, dng. Arrrr
-
The Doctor and Rose face their most fearsome adversary yet...

It scared me that music. And whilst it may be a cliche I do remember hiding when the Daleks were announced by the bloody scary music. I don't know that it could happen in our new child safe though ironic age.

Oh shit, this is what's wrong with monkeyfilter. A shiting spelling mishakee in the titl. Someone should be ashamed.

I am ashamed

This sort of thing makes me long for a day when there really were mysteries and puzzles... instead of the monitored and tightly-controlled world we live in now. I hope this person is never unmasked. And oh, how I wish I had seen the original incident. I'd've spent the rest of the night hiding under the sofa. *shivers deliciously at memory of eating Jiffy-Pop and being scared behind couch by old "Outer Limits" episodes*
