What's Opera, Doc? (Youtube) Surely the greatest cartoon ever made.
  • Pretty much, yeah. And three cheers for Looney Toons bringing great classical music to a bunch of punk-assed kids like myself.
  • I was always torn between this one and The Rabbit of Seville for Best Evar, but I do not disrespect the choice. Although there's a lot to be said for the singing frog one too, as one-offs go.
  • Oh, I think I have to say The Rabbit of Seville. I was seriously dissappointed when I finally saw The Barber of Seville, and found out that the music from Rabbit is only the pre-curtain piece, and not actually in the opera itself. Not that I didn't enjoy it non-the-less.
  • What's Opera Doc?, The Rabbit of Seville and Donald in Mathmagic Land are three of the best that I can think of.
  • Sorry, folks. I'd have to say One Froggy Evening. Everybody likes the Michigan Rag.
  • Wabbit twacks! I'd like to point out that Elmer Fudd is the funniest cartoon character ever created, IMHO.
  • Enjoy that youtube video while you can. It will probably get deleted soon.
  • Molto Fuddo!
  • My vote is for Rhapsody in Rivets. A true classic.
  • This cartoon is ...brilliant. To the list of other great Loony Tunes I must add Duck-A-Muck and Duck Dodgers in the 24 1/2th Century.
  • Interestingly enough, Capt., One Froggy Evening was also a favourite of Joseph Volpe, director of the Met, who cited it as a perfect example of what it was like to deal with opera singers.
  • "Oh Brumhilda, you're so w'uvwy." "Yes I know it, I can't help it." That always cracks me up.
  • The common thread among just about all of your choices: Chuck Jones. He was a genius.
  • Ditto Tex Avery.
  • One Froggy Evening here on the Utube. It's the first time i've seen any of these! Couldn't find Rhapsody in Rivets, sadly.
  • But here's Rabbit of Seville!
  • Well done, StoryBored, that makes it a proper post. I'd forgotten how good the Rabbit of Seville was.
