Ambient noise, apparently free.
Here's purring. Here's the scratch of a pencil. Here's a typewriter (with carriage returns). Here's a restaurant. Um, warning: sound.

That's awesome! I miss the clock I used to have that would put you to sleep to the sound of nature. It would wake you up to the gentle "caw" of a bird. Then when you didn't get up "Caw." "Caw!" "CAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAWWWWWWWWWW!" Seriously, though I may just leave this on the PC and let it go all night. I like the rain forest one.

My cat wakes me up by standing on my bum and yelling.

Nice post. I've always wanted one of those white noise machines for sleeping, but they're all stupidly expensive. I use a fan that cost me $12 instead.
-
Oh yeah - 'cos you can only sleep if white people are making soothing noises. You racialismists disgust me. I hope brown people keep you up all night jabbering away in their crazy sub-human languages.

I turned on my TV one day and heard the familiar white-noise static of total signal loss. Thinking something was wrong with my satellite system I started to investigate, but when I changed the channel it worked fine. I switched back to the original noisy channel to discover that it was one of my audio-only channels - the one called "Nature Sounds". The track they were playing was called Niagara Falls.
-
mmmm...restauranty.

More soothing noises. [via]

My cat wakes me up by standing on my bum and yelling. Well, with that problem added to this, it's a wonder you get any sleep at all.

AWESOME post.

Too cool! I love the train and they typewriter (the carriage-returns-included version), and of course the kitty-cat purring his nummy-wummy little heart out. As for the static/white noise thing, it makes my noggin hurt.

Download Audacity, the open source sound editor Install it, then follow these instructions: Generate > White noise > 30 seconds Effect > Low pass filter > cutoff freq=660 Effect > Tremolo > wetness=96, freq=0.2 tada! waves on a beach!

Come on, guys, a carriage return is a special character which marks a new paragraph - it doesn't make a noise!!
