Rich and famous sign name of poor and unknown
What's an autograph by Yoko Ono, David Sedaris, the late Spalding Gray, or architect Frank Gehry worth? Better yet, what's it worth if said celebrities sign not their names but that of the autograph seeker? Paul Schmelzer got more than 70 people--including Jesse Ventura, Wim Wenders, Noam Chomsky, and the voice of Homer Simpson--to sign his Germanic, unfamous name. Funnier still is those who didn't sign but took time to mail back a reply: Mikhail Baryhshnikov, Tom Clancy, etc.

I love this idea. Thanks for the link, and welcome, new-ish monkey!

I can't explain why, but I was fascinated by this and looked at every entry. I guess it's just the undefinable (indefinable?) allure of someone committing fully to a wonderfully weird idea. Anyway, )))!

Thanks, Mickey, for the welcome. I've never been called a monkey before...

Get used to it! :) Nice post. That Henry Rollins, what a wag!

Annie Sprinkle gave good pen, and Studs Terkel?! I like the man's taste. On the subject of good taste, welcome BranstonPickle - the tangy taste of a top-notch butty, and now a monkey too.

You're welcome, Paul. That'll be $2.50. USD.
