!Sydneysider Alert!
Koko is Koming!
I will be in Sydneyville from March 24th through April 7, and would love to meet you! This will be my first ever meetup yay!!!!
I'm thinking roughly March 28thish to roundabout April 6th or so for a date. It needs to be a bit flexible as I don't really know what my schedule will be like until I get there (visiting Mr. Koko's extended family, for the most part). Also I would like suggestions on things to do/see/avoid/etc. As an added bonus, there's a rumor that a quidnunckid will be migrating through the area at the same time. It's something I've only ever seen in pictures, so I'm quite excited about the opportunity to observe it in its native habitat. Join me, won't you?
-
*Is jealous of Koko and Sydneysians* I hope you all have a lovely time!
-
*Calls travel agent, cancels Winnipeg Dream Vacation package for late March. Cries*
-
Avoid the huge effing snakes and rabid wallabies. See Chy if at all possible. Brave little monkey! Good on ya, mate!
-
Get on a ferry to Manly (yes, yes) at Circular Quay and just stay on board while you do circuits of the Harbour. Catch a bus to Marrickville Road for a belt of immigrant culture and great cheap food. Walk around Sydney University for some green space in the city, then down Glebe Point Road for bookshops and cafés. Start at Hyde Park then head up Oxford St (it's a wee bit gay) to the Paddington Markets (weekends, I think). You can look at the Block in Redfern to get some sense of how some Aboriginal groups fare thereabouts, but don't go in (trust me on this). King Street Newtown is a nice place for a stroll. Go to the Zoo in Mosman. Art Gallery is good too. Royal Southern National Park and Ku-ring-gai for some trees and water. The Domain. Botanical Gardens. The Rocks is worth a walk around. Bondi. Nielsen Park (on the Harbour). Watson's Bay for fish and chips. All this stuff apart from Royal Southern is close to town, cheap-ish (mostly free), and easy to get to on public transport.
-
I have never seen Koko and Quid in the same room at the same time, and refuse to be taken in by this cockamamie charade. Also, I have never seen Koko speak while Kit drinks a glass of water.
-
Also don't forget Haymarket (Sydney Chinatown) - fab yum-cha! And do a day trip to the Blue Mountains - it's pretty amazing to see and only a 2 hour train ride.
-
Don't worry about the world's most poisonous spiders that are everywhere in Oz, including the cities- relatively few tourists are killed by them. Also, put me down on the shoutout list, please.
-
Be careful of the Drop Bears!!1!!!11
-
BEGIN THE SEETHING!! shoutout, please?
-
Summary of Australia: Australia is one of the bigger continents. It is surrounded by the Great Barrier Reefer. There are many good people there including Jim Australia and his friend Digeridoo. I would like to go to Australia but my legs aren't strong enough.
-
I note that Koko's kokonaut post is so important that everyone has voluntarily observed a moratorium on posting other items in order to make sure that the antipodpeople have sufficient time to respond.
-
You put the lime in the kokonaut, you drink 'em both together Put the lime in the kokonaut, then you feel better Put the lime in the kokonaut, drink 'em both up Put the lime in the kokonaut, and call me in the morning.
-
Best of the web! Wish I could be there. Have a good one, and a shoutout would do me the world of good. While you're there, could you make a pilgrimage-by-proxy for me to the set of Heartbreak High, and burn it down?
-
Will do.
-
Bring me back some eucalyptus!
-
Meet you on Tuesday on the Town Hall steps We'll get an 8 by 10 photo and a wedding date set We might as well do it next week 'Cause we've met everybody that we're ever gonna meet
-
'Cause we've met everybody that we're ever gonna meet Yeah, well.
-
Did you hear that?? It's the mating call of the male quidnunckid! See how he's arranged his plumage to resemble a bowtie and bouquet of posies? If we can imitate the response, he will retreat to the bush and construct a matrimonial nest of mud and pubic hair. Let's try it!
-
Come to Australia [Youtube] Deadly Oz kills 2,433 tourists Have a fab trip!
-
Hey, isn't there a town in Maine called Kwidnunkett? And are you sure that's mud?
-
Yeah, well This will be after we meet up in Adelaide, natch. This time I shall regulate by beer intake until I actually see you ;)
-
Deadly Oz kills 2,433 tourists We're mostly going to be visiting relatives in their homes, which IIRC only resulted in about 23 tourist deaths in the past 5 years, and those being due to misunderstandings. I've already bought my Australio-American dictionary, so I should be ok.
-
Pleeeze fundle . . my buttoks.
-
From the Deadly Oz article: ... even a koala could "carve up" an inquisitive foreigner who invaded its space... Holy sh*t!
-
He's a beauty all right, Koko. But you gotta be careful of his poisonous OWWWW FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK GET IT OFFA MEEEE
-
Hit it with the koala! Hit it with the koala!
-
So: there are no Sydney-based monkeys, then.
-
Not that have logged in recently anyway. Looks like it's just you n' me, toots! *applies bright red lipstick, pulls up stockings*
-
*books flight to the Peg, wonders if drill, webcam are checked or carry-on luggage, laughs at how much he gouged pete for the live feed*
-
Whatever he paid, I'll double it!
-
BUMP Still looking for Sydneylicious folks to join us, or at least suggest fun places to meet/eat/drink.
-
Please explain.
-
Australia has its fair share of cockwits too.
-
That's it, I'm not going.
-
*continues to drum fingers on desk, waiting for shoutout, not that he knows when the meetup actually is because it's not like he got a stoopid flyer or nuthin'*
-
Ha! Ha! *Continues to wait at abandoned amusement park, checks watch, calendar*
-
A brief yoohoo from the Wrong Hemisphere: "Give everyone my love. Tell them we saw red pandas at the zoo. We haven't seen any nasty spiders yet, but there was a frightened little mouse in our bedroom the first day." And I think the meetup is Tuesday.
-
The meetup is in a few hours, you freaks. I'll post pictures sometime this weekend, and then we'll see who's King of Monkeyfilter!! I don't really know what that means, I've been out in the sun too much.
-
Shoutouts! And bring back some dropbears, thx.
-
Are we met up yet? Yay red pandas! Boo drop bears! Go Chy Go! Um . . Give Australia back to the Irish! Yeah me noggin's all digeridooed these days, whaddya want.
-
We are up-met. It was a Manly up-meet. Much fun it was and beer drunk. Slight headache after. Tomorrow I go fly-fly home, then upload pics. Australia and quidnunc are wicked awesome people, you guys. NORLY.
-
*glances at watch, furrows brow, taps foot, drums fingers*
-
It takes 2 days to fly back?
-
and boy, are her arms tired.
-
Oi!
-
I had 532 Oz pictures to go through! Cut me some slack! Here they are, though some didn't come out too well. Quiddy will hopefully be scanning them all and posting them soon. He has more shoutouts on his camera (including yours, Capt., so relax) as well. Each shoutout is an anagram! Have fun!
-
Ha ha ha! Clever little monkeys. Knaths!
-
I still don't see Koko and Quid in the same room at the same time.
-
Thanks for the souhoutt! Could Flickr be any slowr? And where are the Koko swimsuit pics?
-
SKAT HONK OK!
-
Misle cladd stool. Awesome.
-
But, where, where 'o where is: Talk USA Grime? Or Karma Tie Slug?? Even A Liar Smut Keg! would have sufficed... Agile Muskrat... Laura Get Skim... *runs from thread streaming tears*
-
That Koko can be one cold bitch, SMT...
-
smit, did you see my shout-out? Apparently, "I'm yeck." Previously, if you read between the lines and squinted a bit, quid's shout-outs to me were precious notes of undying love and devotion. But now I'm covered in muck, trailing flies. WTF, Koko? Oh, it's on, honey.
-
Catfight!
-
I did see that, Mickey. Probably not covered in crud I think she said... Hmm... *licks paws*
-
These shoutouts were culled from a much longer list; if we had done them all I would have been far too drunk to fight of quid's advances. Wait a minute ... aw, shit. There were "rough draft" shoutouts for you, Mickey, but I'm afraid they ignited in my gaze. Oopsie!
-
Heh heh heh. Mee-yow!
-
> Each shoutout is an anagram! Have fun! That took longer than I'd like to admit :-)
