World War Three Has Begun But the world ignores it, focussing instead on single episodes.

  • Fucking nonsense. This meme is at the core of the neo-con agenda. The conflict between Chrsitendom and Vile Islam is a fabrication of an establishment desperate for a new villain after the collapse of the Soviet Union and little else. Islamic extremists were marginalized until the Bush Administration decided to embrace this insane worldview. American military adventurism, which was an over-the-top response to a single terrorist attack, has given both sets of lunatics enough fodder for a thousand lifetimes. But even beginning to give the slightest bit of credence to the World War III (or IV) meme is complete bollocks. It is a pipe dream that needs to be squelched at every turn lest it gathers enough impetus to grow from wing-nut talking point to popular belief; we are already much further down the path of converting these delusions into public "truth" than we really should be.

  • there is a line of thought that considers the cold war to have been WW3, so this is fact would be WW4, if you buy into the idea that this is a world war. I am on the fence. I think this is more like "the stuff that could become a world war" and at the rate ShrubCo is going, they just may get us there....

Well, current events are just field tries of new technology and strategies. And if it helps a few friends in the private sector to grab some great deals, well...

  • I think Ahmedinejad's Holocaust denial is both brutally stupid and insulting, but stuff I'm reading from the usual suspects is making all the same noises we heard before the last war — nukes and chemical weapons under the control of an insane régime bent on the destruction of our way of life (or maybe just Israel). MAD worked for many years, did it not? Would the Iranians really be dumb enough to pull the trigger knowing they'd be turned into various vitreous substances immediately they did so?

Ahmadinejad wants a seat at the table and security for Iran, as far as I can see. The West screwed up relations with Iran several times early this decade; the 2005 election results are partly a reflection of that.
