  • Don't miss the Dreamweaver instructor's joanmariegiampaindexpage! crikey
  • I don't mind this picture, though. It's pleasantly Redon-ish, and the texture is not at all bad for acrylics.

  • The requested URL /~jpetro/index.htm was not found on this server. Was this liek one of those secret threads where you give out the secret codes but to everybody else looking it was just a bunch of nonsense that didn't mean anything? Huh was it huh? . . . You guys playin' cards?! : D /Flounder
  • The page was up last night... and now it has MYSTERIOUSLY DISAPPEARED. /strokes chin conspiratorially
  • Interesting. It has indeed dist-uh-peered since last night. Perhaps the server died of embarrassment (although the other links work).
  • It's baa-aack, but in a new "cleaner" version although I still get text overlapping text. The message and new assignment is a crack-up. Apparently I originally saw this on Reddit (actually popurls.com).
  • From Reddit, here: "Hi Everyone: This is Professor Petro, and I am so glad you are reviewing my site today. Although some of your comments are helpful, others--with all the bashing--seem a bit unproductive and just plain mean. I don't know which student of mine posted my site for all you wonderful people to judge, but I hope to find out, because I would like to know if you are in college to learn or just make fun of teachers who are trying their best to teach people because they love to teach; and because believe it or not, teaching requires both the ability to teach and do--the doing comes before the teaching. I have recieved two really mean emails and I wish them to stop. If you would like to send constructive criticism--please do. Otherwise refrain from the sarcasm and bashing--a bit unproductive at best--wouldn't you agree? This is only the second semester I am teaching this course, and I am still in the process up updating the site from last semester. I know it is a bit unorganized and the plan is to tighten up the page. I was not able to organize it over the winter break because I had surgery--so check it out in the next few weeks when the site gets "tight" and if anyone knows how to get my favicon to work--I would really appreciate their help. In the meantime have a great day. Professor Petro"
  • just make fun of teachers who are trying their best to teach people because they love to teach Well to be honest this is an inadequate excuse for not appearing to be qualified to teach the class. Regardless of the low-quality of the site, to not even be able to do a quick google to find out how to fix a favicon? There are heaps of sites which have very easy instructions on how to do that. That shows a considerable lack of basc research techniques. Also considering the syllabus - I can't see how it's possible for the students to be able to plan and execute a site by the end. Plus I can't see how this professor can possibly grade them on their efforts, when they seem to have such a poor understand of web design and site execution.
  • Thanks Lara, I did not look at the reddit discussion, just the page in question. It is one thing to have a chuckle at another's expense and quite something else to write them directly. That takes someone with an abusive personality (IMHO). To get more serious for a moment, this is a problem in most of higher education. In the areas of computer literacy, multimedia, web design, (etc) students are often discouraged to find that they already know more than their teachers about the subject, the software, etc. Few that CAN DO actually go into teaching. This is regrettable.
