Audio of Martin Luther King speech from 1965 at Temple Israel in Hollywood. Special treat for American monkeys on MLK day (which it still happens to be over here). Enjoy.

Here's a good MeFi post on MLK
-
He sounds exhausted. He was thirty-six then, in 1965, and had what, three years left? Malcolm X was killed that year.
-
"Special treat for American monkeys on MLK day" I did a double take on that one, and then remembered which site I'm on. The doubletake being caused by "monkey" being a derogatory slang word for black people...

Whenever I see the abbreviation MLK, something between my peepers and my brainbox kills in an "I" to make it "MILK." I always have to stop and think. And whenever I hear or read the man's words, I can never come away unaffected in both heart and mind. And then I flash back to the day in 2001 when little Tourist!Monkey me stood goggle-eyed outside Westminster Abbey and saw his statue looking down at me from the wall of martyrs. Chills down the spine.

Good God, azpenguin, that never even crossed my mind!
