I was thinking of the shadow puppets, too. I recently saw Lotte Reiniger's "Prince Achmed," which blew me away.

Late one night on Trner Classic Movies' "Silent Sundays." Sadly, it looks like they've got no plans to rerun it soon, and it's not on DVD.
