and was wondering if anybody knew any good, free templates we could use. It's not a big company (less that 200 people), so the intranet will mainly be a storage point for common documents, staff pages, diary, possibly a 'for sale / announcements' type feature etc. I'd like it to look as much like a nice clean website as possible, so staff don't see it as some dry corporate jobby. We'd be hosting it on our own server and should be simple to update, both for admin and staff (staff would only have limited access to certain areas - diary etc). Either CMS or Dreamweaver (or both) for admin... I know this is a bit vague, but I'm just looking for either pointers to a recommended application, or advice from anyone who has done this. I don't want to drone on here, so sorry if this is missing vital info you may need to answer my Q. Fanks!

I would recommend TWiki, a structured Wiki. There's an active development community creating new plug-ins and skins.

The pellet with the poison's in the server with the fervor. The man with the LAN has the connection that's perfection.

This is what you get for being "creative", kit. (I suggest doing a 'conceptual' intranet. "No, no -- it's there, it's there in your want for an intranet system. You have to see past the blank monitor...)

I was really happy to see that someone beat me to the punch to suggest a wiki solution. They are very easy to update and manage, and they have granular permission control.
