Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade circa 1932 (approximately).
  • Great find!! )))!!!
  • what did you think of that? oh, I saw Felix the cat and the backside of a spotted pig and they were awfully big!
  • Oh, my, that's wonderful!
  • ((( Fascinating photos and a new site to explore, too! Thanks, Nick
  • For future reference, "circa" means "around", so the (approximately) isn't needed. It's repetitive and redundant. Some of those balloons were used for many years; I think I recall hearing that the Felix the Cat balloon I saw as a kid (60s) was the original. (But I could be romanticizing that a bit).
  • Great pictures!
  • Repetitive AND redundant? I'll remember that and keep it in mind. Thanks and much gratitude, Doohicklie! -Nickdanger

  • But that isn't a useful acronym! I showed the parade photos to #2 and was saying aloud what they were (since he wasn't really looking): "A giant dachshund...a giant crocodile...the same giant crocodile...a giant man...giant Hitler..." That made him look.
  • Absolutely gorgeous! Seems like it was fewer licensed characters and more plain old cute animals. I love the dangly legs on the turkey.
  • Kewl! MonkeyFilter: Repetitive AND redundant?
  • A review from x-entertaiment.com of the 1993 parade. Apparently, it didn't go so well due to high winds, and some of the floats were dragged up the street headless.
