Corset of steel
Talented man makes metal corset for elegant friend. She includes pictures of antique steel corsets on here.
Disclaimer: The maker's a friend, but I thought this was linkworthy because I'd never seen anything like it.

something in this post is borked...

Oops, that's her blog.
-
i had ANOTHER of those drunken Whitby outfit planing evenings Guess we all know what that's like! :)
-
ya, darling!
-
That was not as kinky as I was hoping..er..I mean... expecting.

*plucks kitfisto's brain out of the gutter, hoses it down, hands it back* At first I thought, "omg, metal corset, friction burn!" But it looks wonderfully elegant with that dress. I love the fan! It looks like the spikes could shoot out and do grievous damage.
-
darling, you make me giggle.
-
Wow, that's gorgeous.

A friend's sister used to make metal corsets and other Victorian clothing as non-functional art. Her take was on uncomfortability and focus placed on the disembodied female torso and had features such as blades which scissored closed at the neck when the corset was closed or impossibly constrictive arm holes. She does functional costuming these days.

That looks very cool, although it makes me wince when I think that anyone is willing to put it on.
-
Excellent. No whales were harmed in the making of this garment!

Yeah, like Alnedra, I first thought "that sounds painful/torturous". But on seeing the pics, it's really pretty and surprisingly elegant given the material. That pointy bit on the front scares me a bit though, and the dress hides just exactly where it hits the body!

This fine corsette is better, but not more elegant looking than what 'Kitfisto' may have been surmising - something like the 14th century chastity belt that I placed in an exhibit at this 'Ripley's Believe It or Not Museum' in Williamsburg, Virginia (USA). That one was a steel 'clam shell' that belted at the waist. In front was a finely engraved rendering of a naked Adam and Eve in the 'Garden'. There was also a tooth lined orifice between them, and a smaller one in back (!). Believe it, or not...

way cool. that corset is gorgeous /wants

Too, too strange. The touch of red-eye in the photos makes her look deranged. Which is the way I feel any woman who would WANT to wear any corset must be. Lovely precision workmanship, crazy outfit.

I think it's utterly exquisite and would love to have one.

Beware demon eyed Goth girls!
