Short youtube video in response to that whole Michael J Fox/Rush Limbaugh thing. It is basically just a two minute video of people with Parkinson's Disease showing the way the disease and its treatment affect movement/appearance differently. It's a pretty simple video, but I found it quite powerful.
  • So the funny(?) thing is that the ad YouTube served up was one of those jittery "you are the Nth visitor to this site!" How appropriate! Maybe the ad designer was faking/exaggerating its motion to make a point?
  • Hit Rush Limbaugh in his wallet and improve America, ask your congresscritter to bring back the Fairness Doctrine in the first 100 days.
  • MJF talking to Katie Couric Man, remember when political dialog used to unfold like this. Doesn't his response make a fool of the fat man. Fox was pretty fucking eloquent here. Couric seemed rather uncomfortable.
  • Apparently Rush Limbo announced after the election that he has basically been lying silly to promote the Republicans. There was a post to DailyKos with a transcript of the Limburger tearfully admitting that he was full of swamp gas.
  • MJF talking to Katie Couric That's a great interview.
  • fuyugare, can you get me a link? I'd love to read that. MJF says something to the effect of "It's not about Red and Blue states, it's not about Rs and Ds, it's about helping people with science." Well said, sir! Well said indeed.
  • This is the post I was referring to. I misremembered a bit -- it's actually a "diary", not a main page post.
  • I now want to slap Katie Couric even harder than before.
  • The thing that amazed me was how Rush Limbaugh was able to frame the whole thing when he was so clearly talking out of his ass. And yet, the media treated his claims as being credible and MJF had to defend himself. Anyone remotely familiar with the disease knew how much bullshit it was for Limbaugh to say what he did.
  • Aye. But issues such as truth or falsity count for nothing in Medialand, where 'news' is equated with entertainment and is really about ratings and sponsors.
  • R. Limbaugh is an entertainer. He has the right to say whatever he wishes during his radio happy hour. OTOH, people can easily ignore him and thus end his livelihood. You would think they would. They don't. Train wrecks have always been intoxicating. Rush apparently numbs his self-realization of Jerry Springer-like failure with narcotic pain pills. Thus, so stoned out of reality, he can shake it like a Parkinson's patient and feel he is somehow being humorous, instead of being incredibly insensitive and offensive. Assholes never realize they are assholes. It is time for American society to minimalize and thus end the career of Rush Limbaugh. His moment in the sun ended long, long ago.
  • I don't know- I'm glad Rush had this particular moment in the sun. He and that Haggard guy and a few others really went the extra mile to drive voters to the Democrats by being big, noisy, public hypocrites/assholes right before the midterm elections. I think we owe Rush a debt of gratitude.
  • The only thing owed Rush is a big, fat punch square in the nuts. Repeatedly.
  • If you can get through the layers of fat and bullshit.
  • Speaking of God and all, I really hope there is a hell so that Rush can go there when he dies. What a hateful, hypocritical bastard. As far as the "good" Rush has done, I don't know -- he's as guilty as anyone of polarizing public opinion and coarsening public discourse. So what if the Dems are in office if the tenor of the way people interact has become more fucked in the process?

"I- . . . See, the . . the . . . . . Okay, so . . . *sigh* . . . What happens, . . . Okay . . " It's like my brain is smarter than me.
