PC World's 25 Worst Tech Products of All Time

The article is a few months old, but I don't think it's been posted here. If it has, then I guess iSmell!

  • Ack! CueCat! That reminds me - Why isn't Wired magazine on this list?
  • Kudos to PCW for attacking Real Player for obtrusiveness, but why not Quicktime too, it is just as bad. We all need the QT player now and again, but no, I don't want it to load on start-up, I don't want it in my system tray, and I don't want a desktop icon. Further, why would anyone still use Adobe Acrobat when CuteFTP writes PDF's for free, and FoxIt Reader loads and reads PDF's in about 1/1oth of the time as Acrobat reader?
  • No way -- that puck mouse should be in the top ten. AOL certainly deserves #1, tho.. And I agree that Wired should be on the list.
  • I don't want it to load on start-up, I don't want it in my system tray, and I don't want a desktop icon. Get a Mac, sucka
  • The mac mouse. They still aren't technologically skilled enough to put two buttons on it. WTF is wrong with them?
  • You can plug a mouse with up to 16 buttons (assuming you can find one) into the Mac and they'll all work. Either that or press option while you click for right-click. Tough, innit?
  • Mighty Mouse... 2 buttons and squeezy action.
  • You can plug a mouse with up to 16 buttons (assuming you can find one) into the Mac and they'll all work. Either that or press option while you click for right-click. Tough, innit? Are trying to say that since you can plug a non-mac mouse into a mac, that's exactly the same as mac making the mouse? Or are you pointing out that there are ways to workaround the technical limits of Mac, by spending extra money after your purchase of a Mac? That's fascinating logic either way. You know there are ways to workaround the suckiness of AOL? That means AOL doesn't suck, right?
  • the only workaround I know of for AOL's suckiness is to not use it... oh and it's control-click, not option-click.
  • *has used a Wacom tablet for years*
  • Actually, I've found that Acrobat Reader is faster than Foxit for some pdfs (in particular, a graphics-heavy bicycle map of SF). Since it rerenders every time you move the field of view or zoom in or out, it makes a big difference. Also, while CutePDF & others will write PDFs, I haven't been able to find a good PDF editing program.
  • *stares glumly at three non-functional Iomega zip drives* The 4th one still works, though hardly anyone uses it now.
  • I've had nothing but joy from my Iomega Zip drive, but yeah, it's kind of a white elphelant.
  • What I resent are the missing data on the ruined zips.
  • How about an article about good products that became sucky? I would nominate MusicMatch Jukebox.
  • *stares glumly at three non-functional Iomega zip drives* I sold my Zip drives just before they went out of style. MUHAHAHAHAHA!
  • How about an article about good products that became sucky? iTunes, hands down.
  • *stares glumly at three non-functional Iomega zip drives* You should have tried the jaz. Sweet busty mother of freedom, that was one big chunky plastic mass of suck.
  • After reading these comments I feel I should straighten my clothes and perhaps brush my teeth. You technorati monkeys are so . . forward!
