RIAA Blames Net for Evil - Fake industry selling fake product? There are different kinds of fakeness.

What's more infectious than misheard song lyrics? Is there anything better than a truckload of song parody lyrics? How about fake songs by fake bands? But sometimes Fake is more Real than Real.

  • Dear RIAA, The reason people use the internet for music is because it's more convienant. People don't want to buy the whole cd if they only like two songs on it. People want to shop in their underwear in the privacy of their own homes. The business model has changed and you haven't even noticed. Instead of whining and being mad that time has actually marched on, why not rethink how you're marketing and distributing music? People will pay for music if you give them a viable alternative. I'm sorry if that means that artists can no longer dump crap on us part and parcel with their good stuff. Believe it or not, there are a lot of people who don't actually want to steal and would welcome the opportunity to pay artists for their work (we don't want to dump lots of money on you though, you greedy, money grubbing organization of theives and scoundrels). Things have changed. Yes they have. And you can either adapt, or not buy a new lear jet. Waaaaah. Sincerely yours, Kimberly p.s. I find it interesting that you guys don't care even a little about how the public perceives you as an organization. That doesn't seem like a sound business strategy. Perhaps you should fire PriceWaterhouse-Coopers and hire a consultant group that considers customers as friends rather than enemies.

Thank god for Itunes, although it's not yet the best in terms of the amount of music the prices are fair and ease of use is great.
  • Bad News, best fake band ever, closely followed by Billy and the Boingers. And then there's Spinal Tap, but that's a given.
  • I've heard of Bad News, but not Billy and the Boingers. It's all about placement, I guess.
  • Billy and the Boingers consists of Opus on trombone, Bill the Cat on tongue, and Hodge-Podge the rabbit on drums. The manager is Steve Dallas and the origin is Berke Breathed's Bloom County.
  • and, of course, Limozeen [flash]
  • Oop. Sorry, tracicle. Didn't mean to step on your linkage.
  • How about The Rutles?
  • Oh come on. That article is more than a year old.
  • The Rutles look waaaay too scary.
  • Yes, no new comments whatsoever! Yee haw! *Does the happy monkey dance* Oh crap, I need to move my car.
  • So, 128 is the most anyone's done?
