Toronto's Free Wi-Fi Toronto Hydro rolled out the city's free Wi-Fi - or wireless Internet access - Wednesday morning. The service will be free for six months - and will allow people wireless access to the World Wide Web throughout the downtown rather than solely at pre-existing Wi-Fi hotspots, generally cafes and restaurants.
  • I knew it was coming. Although, I imagined it would be done with something like WiMax or something similer. Oh well, doesn't matter much, I guess. I imagine, in time every major city in North America will be rolling out a similer functionality. Well, with the cell phone network, you have wireless Internet capability almost anywhere in the city, but its so slow. If they could find a way to feed broadband through a similer network, like they did originaly with telephone lines way back when, that would be awesome.
  • *seethes with jealousy Wonder when the GovCorp will manage to figger out a way to screw this up?
  • 'Merican, that is.
  • Yeah GramMa, it's not real, it's "Canada"
  • Right. Obviously all the more reason to go to the MoFi Meetup in TO this weekend, where I will not snog you in your sleep.
  • Pete, Canada IS the USA except it is bigger, nicer, politer, friendlier, less crowded, just as pretty, and (thank god) Bushless. Come on up. We'll keep the light on.
  • Oh, and the beer is better.
