When design meets food.
People have been concerned with the design of food for quite some time. But usually it's just about making something look good. Now the Dutch tradition of conceptual design is coming to the world of food. Not that it doesn't look nice, though.
-
On the whole, I don't eat square foods.
-
What? Not ever a Nanaimo bar?
-
Only if it's cut into triangles.
-
Bees, you mean like peanutbuggeryelly sammiches with the crusts cut off then cut in triangles? They're the yums.
-
Are there really folk who cut the crusts off peanut butter sandwich? Don't think I've ever seen this done. However, sliced tomato sandwiches and cucumber sandwiches always have to be served with the crusts removed, and later on ye can go for a walk and feed 'em to the ducks.
-
And what about brownies? (Did you see something square in one of the links? Can't remember...)
-
Silly [MR]Chip, brownies aren't square, they're cubes.
-
A brownie is a household spirit, a kind of bogarty being or degraded elf, who will perform agricultural and household (and sometimes defensive) tasks. This is the very kind of unpaid labour that gets farmers such bad press in the modern day. Paying him with a suit of clothes is a sure way to lose your brownie, by all accounts.

Ah, kinda like a sprite? /everything I know comes from commercials
-
Has anyone made a 'proef of the pudding' joke yet?
-
I'm told it's in the Ĺ“ting.

I've never had sushi in Japan - I can't imagine what it would be like, but it must be brilliant. Even cheap Japanese food outside Japan is often better looking and better tasting than Western. I'm always impressed by sushi places, much more often than I am by other restaurants. They pay so much attention to the textures and juxtaposition of flavours.
-
gomichild eats sushi in Japan all the time. I had some good sushi though in Australia - it makes a difference when the fish is really fresh.

MonkeyFilter: it makes a difference when the fish is really fresh.
-
Now you're just trying to make me jealous. It's working. Mmmm....sushi.
-
I had sushi last night, mom bought some from a really posh Japanese supermarket. It was wunnerful. If you and Dreadnought ever make your way to this neck of the woods, jb, I'll treat you to a fantastic sushi dinner here. /blatant bribe
