The promise of online dining has been partially fulfilled.
If you live in Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Pensylvania or Illinois, I have a very exciting announcement. Foodler is a big honking list of local restaurants who will deliver food to you (and another list for take-out). Similar things have existed in the past but foodler works really well. Sign up, give them your zip code, choose a place to eat (here in Cambridge MA I can get everything from American to Bangladeshi to Desserts, Italian and Thai) clickey clikey and in half an hour chop stickey! Also has reviews and favorites. Totally awesome if you're lazy. The interface is great, the selection is wonderful, and the restaurants that have signed on really seem to 'get it'.
Favorite items for me in Cambridge: Cinderella's "Cinderellas Garlic Bread" Basically fantastic fresh garlic bread covered in tomatoes, prosciutto, cheese etc. Addictive. Passage to India's Swordfish Tandoori is first rate, very healthy and satisfying. Spice and Rice does a decent bibimbap, although it's better at Koreana on Prospect (on a cold day in a sizzling hot pot). The dessert place has fantastic ice-cream with a lot of fat in it. The fat makes it taste good. There's apparently another Japanese restaurant just out of my delivery range that does traditional stews and noodle dishes not typically available at ordinary Japanese joints.

In Pittsburgh, we have Meals Delivered. I'm not sure if it delivers to my area (the website was unclear about this), but when we moved in we got a coupon for them... so I'll have to check. We did get a pizza delivered via the Pizza Hut website, and I felt like I was living in The Net (except, hopefully, my life is more entertaining).
