Airfix kit makers in nosedive after parent company's crash

ZOMG!

  • Classic line: "Jeremy Brook, secretary of the Airfix Collectors Club, said the plastic models probably saved countless marriages in their heyday."
  • This is very sad news. The official Airfix website is a fantastic resource for those into this type of stuff. You can download the instruction sheets, which are works of art in themselves, and great tips and forums. Helpful members too. Check it out while it's still around.
  • You really enjoyed that one, didn't you! :P
  • On Radio 4, the chap said that the French parent company has all the moulds for the kits. So all we need to do is get the moulds and start making kits again, and Britain will be great once more as young boys get creative with the glue in between scrumping for apples and being caned. Much like when Royal Enfield bikes went under, so the Indian factory who assembled them bought all the machinery and started making RE's again, in all their overheating glory. I used to make models, but never had the room or the patience to really go for it.
  • Drat. Revell kits were slightly better, but Airfix always had the best instructions. *wonders how much his 1/24 Bf-109 kit will get on eBay*
  • Evil glue huffers
  • No, no, GranMa! We never huffed the glue, I swear! It was always the paint thinner!
  • But... unless you sniffed the glue, the planes didn't start flying on their own and have those cool sky battles all over the room, GramMa. Believe me, I tried!
  • ZOMG! What's the Z for
  • Zeus.
  • Eater of Entrails.
