Curious George: Is Mark Lanegan A Horrible Performer Live I say yes. He has been singing with the Twilight Singers. TS is playing E Street band tight. Lanegan mumbles and doesn't move through Live With Me, Where Did You Sleep Last Night, and (his own song) Sideways In Reverse.

I like a lot of the guy's stuff. His album with Isobel Campbell is excellent. The guy just sucks live. The audience and TS are rocking out. Lanegan walks off the stage before the last song is over. Lame.

  • How is this a Curious George? Seems more like chatfilter to me.
  • It's a QUESTION.
  • My coolfilter must be down, because I don't have any idea what's being asked here.
  • He seemed pretty good with Queens of the Stone Age a few years back
  • He seemed pretty good with Queens of the Stone Age a few years back I like Lanegan. It's seems he's wrong with the Twilight Singers. He seems like he rather be someplace else.
  • It's a QUESTION. Hence the staggering number of interrogation marks.
  • It's a question you obviously already know the answer to. That makes it chatty and a lame CG post, IMO. But that's just my opinion, and I'm only <*counts fingers*> one man.
  • Picked up that Mark & Isobel album the other day. Underwhelmed. But maybe I wasn't in the mood. Commuting. Non-condusive to cello accompaniment.
  • meh. this is a question to pose over a beer, not in an FPP.
  • That makes it chatty and a lame CG post, IMO. But that's just my opinion, and I'm only <*counts fingers*> one man. No, you're the Rocket Man.
  • Isn't the whole point of Monkeyfilter to be chatty.
  • Wait...is that a question?
  • Isn't the whole point of Monkeyfilter to be chatty. Not last time I looked. But have at it! Just...don't do it again.
  • I hate piling on, but this really seems like a post for a personal blog or maybe a thread on I love music, but not here. Were this a CG: Performers you love on album but who are teh suck live, I could dig it. If we all started posting CG's about performers who bummed us out, this place would get stale and cranky.
  • Also, if the number of comments about the type of post outnumber the comments about the content of the post, something is wrong. A future lesson for us all.
  • I LOVE piling on! *belly flop*
  • *piles on*
  • A future lesson for us all. Ahh, always the voice of wisdom and reason, Tracicle. Wait a sec, this is no place for reason or wisdom! *throws beer bottle across the room*
  • Hmmm... band that I really like but who suck live: New Order (I guess that's kind of to be suspected, but I saw them in a performance where they were actively sabotaging each other, unplugging each other and doing feedback so you couldn't hear other band members. Bad, bad, bad) Band I didn't like much until I saw them live: Garbage (who were surprisingly great live)
  • If we are going to start complaining about front page posts tracicle might as well start charging five dollars for new members to join...
  • Sheet, mahn. I'd pay to join this band of chuckleheads.
  • Maybe a mofirc question?
  • What's mofirc? Hey! I used a question mark!
  • I think Mofirc is a new kind of textured soy protein dish, like Tofurkey.
  • Another good band that also is not as good live: Steely Dan. Band I had heard good things about their live shows but, when actually witnessed one, felt they sucked: REM, Dave Matthews Band Surprisingly rockin' live: Big Head Todd and the Monsters, The Fixx
  • Bad band who is worse live? 2 LIVE CREW: Banned in the U.S.A. Terrible. Just terrible.
  • Steely Dan was mainly made up of studio musicians during most of their career and didn't really even tour that much so it isn't all that surprising that they weren't that good live. Stevie Ray Vaughan wasn't that great the night I saw him, but he died less than two months later, so at least I got to see him.
  • Usually electronic acts don't translate well into a live setting, but I was surpised at how much fun I had listening to Nortec Collective (an army of 6 guys with laptops, an accordian player and a trumpeter).
  • It's . . . It's not really a Curious George, is it. Awww maaaaan.
  • Uhh...five?
  • Dammit!
  • Is petebest the same as quidnunc?
  • Is the craftmatic adjustable bed a metaphor?
  • You say yes? I wondered about RTD and HB - I say yes.
  • Is you is or is you ain't?
  • A quidnunc ♫ is a creature that has always . been strange . . just when ♫ you're sure of one . . you find he's gone and made a chaaaaaannnge! ♫
  • Should I stay or should I go?
