Captain Copyright. The defining Super Hero of our age
  • To die for. There's been a lot of commentary about this in Canada: Michael Geist and the Canadian Library Association (pdf) are two good starts.
  • two funny things here... first is the copyright notice for Captain Copyright, which reads " Copyright Notice Copyright ©2006 Access Copyright, The Canadian Copyright Licensing Agency, All rights reserved. could we use that word one more time, maybe.. and... 2... the evil character is "Jerry Haskell", which is a badly disguised theft of the name "Eddy Haskell" from "Leave it to Beaver".. I guess using other peoples work is ok if you change it just a little.. Shame on Captain Copyright!
  • Hmmm, so I can still launch my Captain Copywriter® comic?
  • Captain Copyright? Sounds cool. Let me know when the Hollywood version comes out on DVD so I can download it illegally.
  • I prefer his arch-enemy Sgt. Public Domain! "Don't call me sir! I work for a living!"
  • Sigh. Whenever I see something this lame, I just know it's Canadian.
  • Captain Copyright can suck my GPL.
  • What about his lovely assistant, BibliogrOphelia®?
  • THE INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY LEAGUE OF AMERICA 1. Captain Copyright Powers: Amazing array of civil and criminal powers. Weaknesses: kids think he's "square", iPods. 2. Mr Patent Powers: Ability to control basic life-forms and DNA sequences. Weaknesses: Often prohibitively expensive. (Sidekick: Patent Pending Boy.) 3. The Vessel Hull Design Protection Act Vigilante Powers: Wields large vessel hull of invulnerability. Weaknesses: Vessel hull too large to be wielded particularly dexterously. 4. The Trademark Torch Powers: Ability to force criminals to change their own names, logos etc; ability to detect counterfeit superheroes. Weaknesses: Own name not trademarked. c.f. The Trademark Terminator. GO GO I.P. LEAGUE!
  • All I got following that Captain Copyright link was (using my fair-use rights to quote):
