The Cook's Thesaurus is a cooking encyclopedia that covers thousands of ingredients and kitchen tools. Entries include pictures, descriptions, synonyms, pronunciations, and suggested substitutions.

What are your favorite cooking and food reference sites? Previously posted to another thread but worth reviving is The Food Timeline. Also worth checking out are: Cook's Illustrated.com, Food Info Net, the "leading internet portal devoted exclusively to the food industry", Fast Food Facts, and everyone's favorite, epicurious.com. And what FPP would be complete without a Wikipedia link?

  • *smack* *smack* *smack* . . . delicious! Um, but . . no YouTube link?? WTF OMG!11!
  • Here ya go! I can't view videos at work, so I don't know if it's good or bad or SFW or whatever. But it's about FOOD!
  • Wow, Koko, thanks! The ingredient substitution question is what I'm always needing answered (ie. instead of cooking sherry, substitute what?). Can't wait to delve in further!
  • sigh.

  • I cooked a thesaurus once but then I had to eat my words
  • Cool post Koko!! bananas plantains for you!!!
  • TUM is blatantly trying to with the thread
  • I don't use sites too often for cooking as I have, quite frankly, the most awesome cookbook ever. Mark Bittmans "How to Cook Everything". I LOVE this cookbook!!!!
  • sorry Koko... That's ok, I don't think Kit's seen it. You know how he gets when someone mentions beetroot!
  • Hey is this the Beetroot Fanclub thread???? *runs around wildly with beetroots on a stick*
  • No! We like toast ONLY. Or toasted things, I suppose but NO BEETROOT. G'wan! Shoo! Next thing y'know this fine thread'll be kitfested with 'em.
