Hilarious House of Frightenstein! The best kids' show EVA is back on the air, BABY, to teach children all about hippies, vampire midgets, eastern philosophy, recreational drugs, 70s proto-trip-hop, the Grammar Slammer, a gorilla being knocked out repeatedly by baseballs, more drugs, early rave culture, lessons about animals, confused racial stereotypes, pie-in-the-face and fat-man jokes, and of course, chilling poetry as performed by the incomparable Vincent Price. They don't make 'em like this any more...

Obligatory YouTube snippets here, so you can witness the insanity for yourself. Growing up on shit like this, no wonder I'm so fucked up cosmopolitan.

  • No no no, the best show ever was You Can't Do That On Television.
  • You forgot physics, as presented by The Professor - Julius Sumner Miller
  • Mmm, I think I must have blacked out on him. Probably from watching Igor dance in front of that psychadelic screen, and then the Count would join in, and then they'd blue-screen to the inverse of that trippy psychadelic screen, and... *headache*
  • wow, last time I looked up info about this (a few months ago) it seemed like a DVD release was being held up by the guy with the footage (who seemed like he was being a bit of wanker about it). but back on TV, even better! though I don't have that channel so I may have to see what the interweb comes up with. I'd love to see a couple of episodes again.
  • HHOF facts: - Billy Van played the parts of The Count, The Wolfman, The Librarian, Grizelda the Gourmet Witch, Dr. Pet Vet, The Oracle, The Maharishi, and Bwana Clyde Batty. (Did I miss any?) - The SuperHippie was played by one of the Producers, Mitch Markowitz. - I have two books in my bookcase that were once in the Librarian's Library (one is covered in wax from the candles) - This is a pic of Vicent Price and my dad (who worked at CHCH where the show was produced) on the set of HHOF with Brucie in the background.
  • THIS IS THE BEST NEWS OF ALL TIME!!!! parks self in front of TV to wait remembers that Wolfman played "Jumping Jack Flash" 95% of the time, tests mute button
  • What kind of brew are Vince and your Dad drinking? (awesome pic, btw)
  • Dad has a Labatt's Blue, and Vince has a Labatt's 50.
  • Is this where Count Floyd got his start? A-wooooooooooooo!
  • Until I watched that Vincent Price clip on youtube, I thought librarians were sexy, trampy little bespectacled minxes. Now I know they're scary. Worlds are colliding here.
  • Thanks for the photo, r88! I find the fact that Vincent Price drank 50 tremendously validating.
