Battle of Panjawai. A Canadian soldier in Afghanistan describes the 3-day mission that lasted 14 days. (Annotated version here.)
  • Good find, cappy. I'll be reading that in its entirity when I get a chance.
  • Thanks for that, very interesting. It reminds in some ways of Spike Milligan's war diaries, although obviously a lot less funny. Good on us Canucks.
  • Excellent link. There's American incompetence and Americans saving the day. There's British ridiculousness and British courage. Imagine what could be accomplished when everyone's consistently strong.
  • Thanks, Louis. See also one of Christie Blatchford's Afghanistan columns (the only one you don't have to register and pay for -arrrggh) in the Globe and Mail.
  • Interesting read Cap'n. Darkly amusing that he couldn't understand the accent of the British helicopter pilot supporting them during one exchange. The kind of comms problem you don't usually think about when you're all supposed to be English speakers.
