Puzzle Pirates! A massively multiplayer online RPG with a distinctly more sedate attitude. Sail ships, drink, pump the bilges, fight other pirates, all with block puzzles. Imagine Final Fantasy meets Tetris meets Playmobil. Friendly, free, easy to play and frighteningly addictive.
  • Let's not forget to mention that the huge installation wants to completely reconfigure your system, complete with desktop integration, etc.
  • Also, the game's not exactly free; rather, it offers an extensive free trial. If you want a pirate-themed MMORPG that's played with cutlasses and cannonades in the Carib instead of stones and tiles, wait for Pirates of the Burning Sea. This one won't be sedate. [Disclaimer: I have done some work for these guys in the past, though nothing on this particular game.] I personally find Pimps At Sea more my style.
  • I tinkered around with this game back when it was in open beta but I never really could get into it. Firstly, it was written in horrible java that was slow and really choppy. Secondly, the entire idea seems kind of silly to me. When I want to relax and tinker around with a puzzle game or something I don't want to invest hour upon hour to partake in an RPG. I just want to play the game to pass an our or two, nothing more really. Thanks but I'll take Collapse any day.
  • I just discovered Puzzle Pirates recently. Man, it's so cool. I generally hate anything online that costs money, but I just might subscribe to this.
