I took their temperatures and they all seem rather cold.
a.k.a. the "who is < 125 lbs captcha". I mean seriously, the only thing that passes for "hot women" these days seems to be "thin and slutty". I have seen a lot of drop-dead gorgeous women who are slightly overweight.

I agree. Wouldn't "pick out the three cats" from a bunch of pictures of say teddy bears be just as effective? It seems like this is more about picking out "hot" people and picking on "unhot" people than replacing those craptacular number and letter captchas that I can never get right on the first try.

Apparently, hot men aren't the same thing as sexy men.
They appear to use HotOrNot data, so it's about as accurate as it's going to get. Not that it's necessarily accurate. I managed to pass the several times I tried, although occasionally the stretched pictures made it harder. With the men, though, it's a crapshoot. For me, anyway.

One theoretical weakness of this type of image-selection captcha is that a pool of (for example) a few hundred cat-and-teddy pictures could fairly easily be cataloged by an unfriendly web-surfer. The cataloge could allow a computer to use a cheat-sheet approach to bypass the intended image-recognition problem.
By using the endless supply of new people pictures from something like hotoronot.com, this weakness is at least somewhat mitigated. As a bonus, they're already pre-scored by common consensus, so new pictures can be added to the pool used by the captcha completely automatically.
In spite of which, I still find this idea leaving a bad taste in my mouth.
