Lomax collection
About 400 photographs ca. 1934 - 1950 documenting sound recording expeditions carried out by John Avery Lomax, Alan Lomax, and Ruby Terrill Lomax for the Archive of American Folk Song, including African American and Latino musicians, singers, and dancers, primarily in the southern United States and the Bahamas. Here's an example to get you started.

God, that needs music so badly. But, a 40 CD collection might be challenging for even the most dedicated fan. I have to go watch To Kill A Mockingbird, so google for Lomax. There are a zillion samples out there.

Oh, you wanted music?

Rock on, brothers.

Rock some more.

Sorry, Wolof, the pictures are great. I just had an intense desire to hear what the players were playing when they were immortallized.

"Fiddling Bill Hensley playing fiddle..." And I thought "Fiddling Bill Hensley" would be playing the guiro! Seriously, though, these pictures are awesome in their awesomeness. Thanks, Wolof!
