An art gallery in LA
hosts a collection of art inspired by old video games. Other works in the collection include No One Wants To Play Sega With Harrison Ford and Donkey Kong's Last Supper. The WaPo's tech blogger blogs about it here.
As a child of the eighties, I think this looks like huge amounts of fun. What do you think? Also, anyone seen any more good video-game-inspired art lately?
-
Harrison Ford's legs are too short.
-
OTher than that, I like it.
-
I am 8 BIT

Aaarg, I can't get to the gallery page. On a related note, and while I don't think it's for this show but for another one, Coop did a 'nude with an Atari joystick' this winter and paintblogged it. (For those of you who like the naked wimmens with your retrogaming. Do I have to say NSFW?)
-
Video-game inspired: We Will Destroy You-an interactive art installation which featured an old Space Invaders cabinet. There was a hidden camera in the machine. See how the machine sees the players. (images were projected on a bar wall) Press fire when you get to someone that must be destroyed.

Awesome. And Brandon Bird's valentines are especially awesome. Feel free to pick up 'Nectar and Ambrosia' for my Christmas present.
-
Oh, this is at most a mile away from my apartment. I'll go this weekend and give you all a full report.
-
Kitfisto: yes! that is a better link to the show. bone: can't wait! robot: neat! cobaltnine: them's some big gazongas.
-
If I can't have "Donkey Kong's Last Supper", I will personally toss barrels at myself until I am dead.
-
I like the Metroid one at the bottom of this page.
-
Lara, nooooo! Not death by barrel!! Scartol. you're right: that Metroid one is ace.

"Back To The Fleischer" is perhaps my favorite image from the gallery. Although "Eat Me You Fat Yellow Bastard" is pretty damn good as well.
