Stubbies.
A thorough collection of Canadian stubbies.
They've been back for a while thanks to Brick, but twist-top stubbies just aren't the same. It's amazing how just seeing these remind me of the old guy across the street, or hanging out in the basement at my uncle's house, or waiting in the car while Dad pointed out his standard from off the wall of the beer store... And why did this ever go away? And what happened to those Molson Porters? You can still get the Labatt one in Quebec, but where'd all these ales go? Lost to the ice beers? Such a shame...
-
The trouble with a stubby is, you drink it too quick. You always need a couple on the go...
-
Oh, and BTW, BEST POST OF !!! Capt, you certainly are the Alpha Male around here. And you're looking extremely hot today.
-
What, in this old thing? *straightens tie, wipes off crumbs*
-
Such elegance and style.
-
If I am, I've learned it from you, sir.
-
dude, check your email...
-
dude, I did. Playing the modesty angle. Shh!
-
oh, right, good-o... *A-hem* D'ya know, they sure missed a trick when they passed you over for the new James Bond!
-
Perhapsh.
-
Captain, I've a a few of those Velvet Porters waiting for you. Found a 12 pack of them when we moved into our house, some of them unopened. Drop by when you're in town, and we'll slug them back.
-
Beauty, eh? Sure thing.
-
Just give me some warning, otherwise they'll be a little warm.
-
Being (barely) old enough to remember drinking from original stubbies, I was excited when Brick brought them back recently. Something about the feel of that bottle in my hand reminds me of stealing my Dad's beer.

Stubbies were the way to go back in the 80's when I discovered Canadian beers. I still have about 6 cases of them in the basement for use in homebrewing. I've since switched to kegs, but there's no way I'm giving up my stubbies.
-
Man, I haven't thought of stubbies since the days of what we used to call High Test. And then there was this cheap quaff. Thanks for the memories, Capt.

I hear you on dad's brew, rocket, but that Red Cap only tastes slightly better than Lucky or Pacific Pils, and at least a Pil tastes (like something) when it's warm. (For those long stints in the bush.) I kinda like this shiz - Jamaican me crazy!
