Favorville Is it the next Craig's List (except nicer)?

Okay, it requires registration, it is very Toronto-centric at the moment, and it hasn't quite hit its high notes yet...but this seems like a good idea. People helping neighbors get things done, even if the neighbors are strangers. Bringing an online community offline, and into real-world humanity. Have a look.

  • But I don't live in Toronto. Or in Canada. Or on the North American continent.
  • I had high hopes but saw it was just another metro-centric website. There's still a lot of us outside the "Top 100" cities that need to connect.
  • Right to both of you, and hence the disclaimers. Thanks for picking up on that. However, if you look at the places/cities now served, there are some in Europe and elswehere, but they are admittedly few in number. This is a seed project, and like anything else, it may take timne to get to a neighborhood near you. Until then, nice concept, tho, eh?
  • So people are offering their "favors?" Sign me up!
  • I originally read the link as "Flavorville". Now I'm hungry.
  • But I don't live in Toronto. Or in Canada. Or on the North American continent. See me do YOU any favors!
  • My guess is that it won't be the new craigslist. There probably won't be a new craiglist for the same reason that there probably won't be a new MySpace or Facebook -- they're all too solidly established in their niches that even a more feature-rich site will have trouble unseating them.
  • I signed up, but I can't imagine Christchurch will be turning up on there in the near future. It certainly is pretty, but I think danb is right.
  • I like to skirt around issues so I'm betting no.
  • *sees no ‘sexual’ favor category, loses interest* Actually, it’d be interesting if you could build up some favor credit.
