Thanks, Argh! Good resource. Mind you, I'm of the serious-Chucks school -- no alteration of the original Chucks in any way. No changing of laces, no fancy patterns, just the plain, classic Chucks. It's their unchanging nature that makes them great, not the fancied up shit. Then it becomes just another runner. That being said, I went through something of a sea-change by buying chocolate high tops not too long ago, but they're still a solid colour, so I figure I'm still keepin' it real, as the kids used to say.

I was down wit 'em until they packed up shop and moved to Mexico. Now I think they're made in Korea. And the inevitable companion to any discussion of Chucks: Blackspot Sneakers

I get the high-tops but lace them up to the second-to-last eyehole. Have been since seventh grade. No problem with enough length to tie a good knot. Of course, I don't usually wear them anymore. A big slab of rubber with no arch support is just no good for my feet any longer.

I don't see the red, white, and blue ones with the stars...huh.
-
I guess they don't make the knee-high ones anymore :(

Those are Chucks? I love those shoes! Yar, I'm not cool. Yar.

Is THIS the sock thread you were meaning to point out, Gramma?

I'm still waiting for my smocks, so I can appreciate my husband's needing to trim his toenails whilst keeping the little piggies warm.

I have knee high Chucks! (Thank goodness they have a zipper)

What's this? More American culture?

Well, the definitive shoelace guy is an Aussie...
