The peace pole project was started by Masahisa Goi, founder of The World Peace Prayer Society in Japan. There are hundreds of thousands of them planted worldwide in 180 countries (even outside Ft. Bragg). They act as a silent prayer and message for peace on Earth.

Say, did I mention the wide variety of hats, pens, pencils, mugs, t-shirts, buttons, magnets, bumper stickers, note cards, clothing and gift items available?

  • I’m not a peaceful man, but I do admire that cause. This struck me as a nice sort of thing, a good statement, something for the kids. But it seems you can do nothing without marketing t-shirts, gee gaws, and what not to folks. (Not that the war folks aren’t 24/7 on that, but you expect it). I’m thinking of putting one up by my porch under my U.S. flag. Don’t think I’ll buy a t-shirt tho’
  • I could put one in my front yard. That would be way cool.

  • Me too. Me too. Sorry -- obnoxious first post.
  • I have one in my trousers. Seriously. Wanna see- hey! Alright, okay! Sorry! All I am saying, is give my peace pole a chance. 'Nother great post, Smedley!
