If only I looked better in tights... Stan Lee is teaming up with the SciFi channel to come up with his next comic book idea. As Mrs. Moondoggie told me: "Can you imagine what that casting calls going to look like?" Yes, I've sheltered her from the horrors of cosplay. via

For further discussion, what kind of superhero are you monkeys going to show up as? I'm still working on my xray vision.

  • Oh. The horror. They're going to need to do an American Idol thing where we get to see the footage of the people who didn't make it.
  • I'm tempted to bring out my ol' Hoverboy costume. (See previous ignored thread.)
  • "Can you imagine what that casting calls going to look like?" I think some hints as to this could be found in the movie "Mystery Men." :) I will be The Indomitable Mr. Fes!, a combination of Oscar Wilde, Hunter Thompson, Archie McNally and Burgermeister Meisterburger. I will arrive wearing my signature bespoke suit and snappy tie, deliver some veiled insults and less-veiled judo chops, steal the villain's wallet just prior to rendering him up to the authorities, and disappear into a rented Lincoln Town Car to my secret lair in the catacombs underneath Anderson & Sheppard on Saville Row.
  • my hero
  • I couldn't find it previously posted in my quick Monkeysearch, and didn't want to put it in the main fpp due to all the pop-ups and such. But, here's a great idea of what poor Stan's gotten himself into. Warning: popups, embedded video and hilarity ahead. Pay special attention to interviewer's eyes.
  • Now, now nothing wrong with a bit of cosplay....
  • oh Kimberly, I agree with that!!! the only part of American Idol I've ever watched is the early auditions... And one of us monkeys could be the next William Hung!!! Naturally I will attend as my own superhero persona, SuperMedusa. I can't fly yet, but I've got a great cape...
  • ♫♪AND IiiiiiiEEEiiiIIIIiiiiIIIIIIIII WIllhill ALwayyys - LOHOVE YOooooOOOHooooOOOOOOOOOOooooOOoOoOoo!!!♫♪ What, is the dress too much?
  • True gomi, but there's something wrong with a lot of cosplay...
  • In the end the only thing that's important about your choice of superhero is whether some other superhero can whup your ass. Therefore I choose Galactus.
  • NOT!
  • Flying's overrated. I think Super Medusa would have a stylin' pink Harley. I volunteer to be your archenemy. From my secret bunker in the back room of a Hong Kong lingerie factory I'll try to replace all the sexy underpants in the world with heavy-duty long johns.
  • oooh! despite my throbbing cyber-crush on you, this means war, pantybeast!!! I'm calling my french and italian hench-women right now to get the lace-lasers and satin-shooters ready to go!
  • Eggnog, madam??
  • Rats on Galactus. Okay, Cyclops then! My eye-blasts heat you up! Ha Ha!
  • oooh eye love it when you look at me like that. eggnog all around!
  • Now, now nothing wrong with a bit of cosplay.. We're all involved in some kind of cosplay, al the time, everyday.
  • Superhero is a registered trademark of DC and Marvel Comics. All you cheap bastards better pay up for using the term or I'll tell. (Oh shit, I used it too. I won't tell if you don't!)
  • Hmm, how very South Park. Actually, this would be very very South Park. But, y'know...
  • I let him win! the pussy....
  • How do I win the pussy? Crap, I didn't even know there was a contest goin' on.
  • I think quid's corpse is free if you're interested in rotting facsimilies....
  • I've been wondering what others think of Sci Fi's new programs. So far I find Eureka to be enjoyable. Dr. Who rocks of course. Stan Lee's superhero program is so stupid that it's almost watchable. I've never tried the Stargate programs. I was never a fan of the original one. Are the new ones worth watching?
  • battlestar galactica is sublime. not sure if it counts as new.
  • ditto on Galactica, which is slated to restart in October, but it would be recommended that you rent the DVDs of previous seasons to get up to speed.
  • I watched "Superhero" last night, and it was kind of silly, but a fun romp nonetheless.
  • > rent the DVDs of previous seasons including the mini-series that kicked it all off. i watched the first half of season one without seeing the mini-series. i had no clue what was going on and had to make up the back story for myself. the real back story is better.
  • Yeah, I've liked every episode of Battlestar that I've seen. It is incredibly well done.
  • Surprisingly so! I'd seen some of the Sci-Fi produced movies, esp. the zombie flicks, and had been particularly unimpressed. I had assumed that Galactica was the same, but a friend recommended it to me and loaned me the Season 1 dvds. I got hooked.
  • I'm enjoying the new Galactica, but I have to turn off the part of my brain that is turned off by the fundamentalist overtones and ham-handed parallels to 21st-century America, down to the costumes and naming conventions. Isn't good science-fiction supposed to veil those analogies, to give us viewers something to actually think about? That's what I loved about the first few Trek series. All that said, I'd be Baltar's sex slave, even if he did talk to his imaginary alien girlfriend the whole time.
  • The Mormon overtones were possibly even more present in the original series. There's an interesting article about the theology of Battlestar up at BeliefNet.
  • They were there, of course. But they were more thickly veiled.
  • I like the new Stan Lee show. It's incredibly silly, yes, but I like that. I also like the idea of a reality show where the winner is picked on the basis of integrity and helpfulness as opposed to willingness to back-stab. Plus, Stan Lee rocks.
  • Oh, and so far I'm liking Eureka, too.
