  • I had hours of fun as a kid trying to make pictures with an old typewriter. I would have welcomed this guide!
  • I used to make pictures on my old Apple ][e. My brothers and I would spend hours taking turns making bigger and bigger rocket ships in AppleBasic... when we ran the routine, the rocket would print out line by line, and as the routine continued it would scroll up and off the screen. So, when it worked correctly, we got this Übercool lift-off effect, with flames and stuff shooting out the back. When we finally got a color monitor we were overwhelmed at the possibility of making the flames red instead of the standard CRT green...
