" I just wanted to come out and show my respect for the white race and support the cause." "The atmosphere inside Aryanfest was that of a Renaissance Fair gone over to the dark side, with "Heils" in place of "Huzzahs.""; "Shaved-headed men hugged each other like they were at a gay pride picnic." But what mental confusion would convince a coloured kid to show up with a swastika tattoo?

The article is, on one hand, deeply funny - but also deeply disturbing.

  • Gah. Tracicle, can you fix the spelling of swastika? (Hits head repeatedly)
  • Awesome article. Only nitpick of mine was that he refers to them in a couple instances as looking like a bunch of gay men or possibly prefering men to women as if that is something that would denegrate a man more than anything. But nevertheless, an awesome article.
  • Depends. The writer may have a touch of homophobia, but I think it's more likely they were tickled pink, as it were, by the idea that a bunch of neo-Nazis would look like something they most likely hate.
  • My ex-wife (a bit of a biker herself) once approached a young black man who had a large Confederate flag on the back of his leather jacket and asked if he knew that implied he was fighting for slavery. "Well I don't know, do I?" he responded amiably. But then this was Essex (UK) - that could never happen in the US (could it?)...
  • Wow, some people are so desperate to belong. But that's really, REALLY desperate.
  • Really really desperate to belong - unless it was a test by the four kids. A game - to see whether he would be able to stay.

  • oops - sorry.
  • jb: I was thinking the same thing. It sounds like a stunt--a potentially dangerous one--but a stunt nevertheless. Maybe there was $$ riding on it :-P
