Arundhati Roy on the visit of War Criminal Bush to India
-
"...on March 2, Bush will be taken to visit Gandhi's memorial in Rajghat. He's by no means the only war criminal who has been invited by the Indian government to lay flowers at Rajghat... But when Bush places flowers on that famous slab of highly polished stone... It will be as though he has poured a pint of blood on the memory of Gandhi."
Also: Only 12% worldwide think the Iraq invasion weakened terrorism.

For Bush's March 2 pit stop in New Delhi, the Indian government tried very hard to have him address our parliament. A not inconsequential number of MPs threatened to heckle him, so Plan One was hastily shelved. The exact same thing happened in Canada two years ago, except it was the White House that cancelled the plan out of fear of heckling from our MPs.

I find Roy's delightful insights into the political leanings of zoo animals to be a refreshing change from her usual hyperbole.
-
It will be as though he has poured a pint of blood on the memory of Gandhi. In a good way? or a bad way?
-
Ha! Nice one, Knicks.
-
Why would the quails be afraid of Cheney if he has such notoriously bad aim...? Just askin'.
-
Cos he still shot 600 of them.
-
WILD quail have absolutely nothing to fear from Cheney & Co.
-
So now Bush supports hunger-strikers? Someone tell Guantanamo Bay, quick!
-
It would be cool if he did pour blood on Rajghat. Then all the bloviators could go on and on about how wonderfully symbolic (the blood of freedom fighters) it is, and how Bush was defending freedom and striking a blow at the heart of tyranny by pouring blood, and how anybody who thinks that pouring blood on the stone isn't a good thing is obviously anti-American and working with the terrorists.

Way to harsh my buzz, Mord.

Wow, what timing. I just this week did an Arundhati Roy remix project. (mp3)

Arundhati Roy on India, Iraq, U.S. Empire and Dissent

Yes, sadly most of the world doesn't realize what a narrow margin Bush had on that second go. One is very suspicious of those Diebold voting-machines having been manipulated.
