Portland Meetup!
The Portland MeFi and MeCha crew are getting together on the 18th. Calling all monkeys!
We'll be meeting at the Lucky Lab on Hawthorne around 7:00 pm on Saturday the 18th. Pants are optional.

*seethes yet again*
-
O good, I'm in Maine too that week.
-
WILL Space Kitty and Medusa make it to Portland in time to jiggy-up and funkitize the assembled monkeyage? Only TIME . . . will tell!
-
The cosmic ballet... goes on
-
Heeeyyyyyy, for the first time ever, I might actually get to go to a meetup! Woot!
-
Holy crap. I can't believe this is happening in my lifetime. I'll get to go to a Monkey and MeFi meetup.
-
Would you mind a Seattle lurking monkey?
-
I, too, am a Seattle monkey who is considering the drive down. I just won't know until closer to the date if I can do it or not.
-
From the other threads it sounds like there will be several Seattle MefiMofiMeta's there.
-
My cafe is about five blocks from the Lucky Lab. If there is any interest, I'll offer to host the event as a private meetup, staffed and catered. It's a very elegant space, 35 seats and tons of room. I'm still getting off the ground and this would be a perfect event. I've already hosted a few parties that went great.
-
ian would say - what place is that? I ask 'cause I work somewhere between spitting distance and a stone's throw from the lucky lab, and we're always looking for new places to go to lunch.
-
What fractalid said. I work on first and Taylor, and I'm getting pretty bored with the Daily Cafe. They're nice and all, but I'd rather walk a couple blocks more and by food from a monkey once in a while.
-
I'm actually quite interested in hosting a Mefi/Mofi/Mecha meetup. I own and run The Equator Coffee Cafe, a new restaurant/cafe on SE Grand and Morrison (The Weatherly Building, the tallest one in SE, the big blue and grey.) I'm literally brand new - I'm still doing finishing construction on it, but my doors have been open for over a week and I will be completely done with the space by the 13th. I am partnered up with a caterer, as such I can provide any menu from sandwiches to fancy pants gourmet. Beer and wine for private events. WiFi, of course, and a wall projector. I have an excellent and well trained staff. No event charge, of course - just the standard price of food and drink. Or if you all, or others, have any other ideas for an event, I can easily accomodate. I merely offer my space and staff for any parties that are of interest to us bloggers.
-
See my blog for a few semi-recent pictures. Apologies for no website or online info to link to - I've been too concerned with getting the physical doors open.
-
ian's place totally has my vote!
-
Did you say webcam, ian would?
-
He's got WiFi, petebest -- anyone could AND SHOULD hook up a webcam.
-
hear hear!
-
webcam + projector + #mofirc = crazy delicious?
-
bow chicka bow!
-
WILL Space Kitty and Medusa make it to Portland in time to jiggy-up and funkitize the assembled monkeyage? Doubtful, as the SF meetup is the same night. :)
-
so . . it's like monkey convergance? Monkeyvergance?
-
ian would say talked about his new cafe in this earlier thread, though it sounds as though he's branched out a bit. It sounds specactular, and I join the seething since I really want to see it.
-
**seethes in a slow sad hiss**
-
I'll go if I can find a nice quiet corner to hide in :)
-
Perhaps I'll even show up. Not that any of you really know me yet.
-
That's the whole point, geekpdx. Soon you'll know each other so well that you'll all have restraining orders out against each other, like sexyrobot has against me.
-
i'm so excited (no no no) that i just can't hide it - (whoooooO!) i'mabouttolosecontrolandithinkilikeit (ooooo!)
-
You've got a restraining order from sexyrobot too? High five!
-
Crap. I just realized that it's Sunday already and I forgot about it. I went to the local bar to play darts last night. Oh well, next time. Though I still think I'd like to visit Ian's place and try it out.

I'm going to post this in here just in case anyone happens to read it. I'm doing something really cool in my cafe this week. Here's the excerpt from the press release. "The Equator Cafe is hosting a five day open source programming flashmob and we have chosen the GPL'd Democracy TV (http://www.getdemocracy.org) as our project. We are centrally located in Portland, OR, and are within immediate proximity to the Oregon Convention Center and OSCON 2006. Take a break in between sessions and come down to contribute code. The event will be filmed and compiled into a short video to be broadcast on Democracy TV at the end of the week. " If any monkeys read this and are in town, come and code. (:
