Genius Monkey Technique Peeling bananas from the other end is easier (boingboing)
  • the monkey-fu is strong with this one.
  • I sent this link to a friend this morning with the following comment: "It is somehow gratifying that monkeys who, after all, eat bananas for living might be better at it than us."
  • Here's the first thing I thought: How hard is it to peel a banana in the first place, that an "easier" way is really necessary. It's cool to find out how monkeys do it, though.
  • I'll have to try that next time! I always peel bananas all the way before eating them, instead of the peel-as-you-go method.
  • Oh. I've always peeled my bananas that way, cos I usually use the stem side as a handle as I eat. Yeah, just give the tip a bit of a pinch and it pops open nicely.
  • How hard is it to peel a banana in the first place, that an "easier" way is really necessary. LOL so true. Nevertheless I shall try this new method. However I would bet that these monkeys (if that's what they are) wouldn't know how to open a tomato with a hammer? That's why we are the tool users!
  • You probably all remember this one: Monkeys salt potatoes.
  • I'm amazed this is new to people. I've been eating nana's this way for yonks. It can get you some interesting stares. Also, if you practice enough, you can peel a banana with one hand. (I don't wanna know what you are doing with the other one!)
  • haiku! well almost.
  • But if you eat bananas that way you're more exposed to their naughty bits. Vestigial naughty bits, true, as plain old yellow bananas are triploid and therefore (mostly) sterile but they're still bits and they're naughty and I don't want to know they're there. If you eat bananas stem-end first then you can stop before the bananas can rear their ugly, um, rears.
  • You mean that nasty, bitter hard ugly bite at the end I always toss? Now I know why! ewwww
  • Wow, that is fantastic. First you pinch it, then you stick your tongue in and the banana will split into three long pieces. I am soooo easily amused. If it were not for reading MonkeyFilter, I may have never learned these necessary things. Monkey-fu indeed!
  • Wow, that is fantastic. First you pinch it, then you stick your tongue in and the banana will split into three long pieces. Like they did it in that film, The Dreamers? Sheez, no banana handy right now to practice. I want to see its' naughty bits!
  • I uh . . . nevermind.
