Go, plucky underdogs, go! The Siberian Husky Club of Great Britain is holding its annual Sled Dog Rally in Aviemore, Scotland this weekend. Among the 200 racers this year is Devon Anderson, from Jamaica, who is hopeful of success even though he has never seen snow...

Not only is it too hot for snow in Jamaica, it's too hot for huskies as well, so he's trained up a team of labradors, rottweilers and mongrels from the local rescue centre. Like Cool Runnings, only cooler.

  • w00f!
  • that is pretty sweeeeet. I would think labradors would make great sled dogs. Me and a friend found a long board and we tire out my labrador by having her pull us on that, and she never gets tired, even after a half hour of hills.
  • ...he has never seen snow... And probably isn't going to now, I'm afraid.
  • That'll put him at an advantage surely pleggers? He's the man who's been doing the no-snow training! A good outside bet now.
  • A shrewd point, indeed. If I had a team of dogs that could pull me around on a wheeled sled, I think the temptation to 'mush' through the middle of London would be irresistible.
