Obsessive... most obsessive... I give you, the Bag End dollhouse.

Bag End entry at the Encyclopedia of Arda.

  • Damn! Where did I leave my Shrinkomatic? I want inside of that thing!
  • Holy fuck! My roommate just pointed out that there are medications to help with this sort of thing...
  • That's beautiful! When I saw the movie I wanted this house so much -- I love the big arched doorways. I wish I had a particle of the patience required to make this.
  • That. Is. Amazing. I admire anyone with that kind of patience and follow through. Thanks for the awesome link. )))))))))))))))))
  • Compulsive attention to detail, some of the photos are very convincing. Perhaps she just photographed her grandmas house. Or perhaps not.
  • My first thought upon seeing that was that I very much wanted to crush it beneath my heel. Does that make me a bad person? Second thought: Kudos, strangely attentive and skilled LiveJournal poster. Kudos to you.
  • Mmmm. For this type of thing, my advice would be: "Keep it secret, keep it safe"...
  • Very nice, although the way I imagine Bag End it would have a dozen bedrooms, three cellars, several breakfast rooms, etc. Also, needs a pipe-rack.
  • "All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us." Some people build Tolkien-inspired dollhouses, while most just read about them.
  • /musters horde of action-figure Orcs
  • /summons action-figure Nazgûl and special limited-edition Sauron
  • I misread that and thought it said "special limited-editioni Sharon". I was envisioning some sort of walling off of one end of the Shire while Hobbits and Orcs lobbed missiles at each other over the wall.
  • special limited-edition Sauron Saruman Sharky
  • This reminds me of Queen Mary's Doll's House in Windsor Castle. I remember reading this book years ago, and being absolutely gobsmacked at the excruciatingly rich detail, like the tiny suits of armor in the foyer. Famous authors wrote tiny real books for the library; you can read the text of Arthur Conan Doyle's contribution here. W.S. Gilbert wrote a tiny version of HMS Pinafore for the same purpose. This site has a few nice pictures of the interior.
  • /watches tiny Dark Tower collapse in cloud of dust, heralding end of Third Age /makes note to self: next time, use action-figure Daleks
  • Underpants Monster: yeah, that dollhouse is AMAZING. I remember spending ages gawping at it last time I was at Windsor. Just astounding.
  • All of the tiny lamp lights got me. Wow.
  • When I was a child, I dreamed of playing with a dollhouse like Queen Mary's dollhouse. This person has shown me I can and, even better, one that's a hobbit hole! My eyes are huge in amazement. Tiny food! Tiny bottles in the bathroom. Little towels. It's so amazing.
