The LEGO Roller Coaster
- Some facts about it:
• Average scale speed from the top of the elevator to the station is about 65 mph, or 105 kph.
• Estimated scale speed at terminal velocity at the bottom of the first hill is 140 mph or 225 kph.
• 2 sections of 4.5 volt track was used almost every one section of length, or about 240 sections total (480 rail pieces).
• Roughly 8000 pieces were used. • The total height above table top is 55 inches, or about 175 scale feet. • The chain length is approximately 115 inches (almost 10 feet). • The highest points are held up with monorail track on end. • The loop uses 17 sections of track to make a circle. • The layout covers an area of 4.5 baseplates by 9 baseplates. I wouldn't even know how to begin planning something like this. The scariest thing, though, is seeing the coaster IN PIECES in the back of his truck when he transports it to various events. I'd be so afraid I wouldn't be able to put it back together.
