Curious George: Domain suggestion service.
Are there any good registrars that can make suggestions for available domains? I tried registering (blah)forum.com on Dotster, which is taken, but instead of suggesting (blah)groups.com, (blah)community.com, it keys in on "forum" and suggests nonrelevant nouns like dogforum.com, boogerforum.com, etc. Do any other engines work better?

i noticed that a domain i wanted was "taken" according to dotster, recently, but when i checked on network solutions, it was available... so you might check more than one registrar before resorting to looking for alternatives. ymmv.

Good idea.. I'll do that. Thanks.

Not really what you're looking for, but it's cool anyway by gum: the available domain name of the week. As the author says: "Interesting? Potentially. Useful? Not even likely." But I am still agog, a couple of weeks later, over "mootbutton".

godaddy.com had a similar service, probably worth a try.

you can have ( ) in URLs?
-
Good suggestions -- I have to credit godaddy.com as posting very good alternatives, especially if you select "advanced" (it then shows about 100+ choices).

godaddy hearts torture.

MelbourneIT has the best name generation tools I've ever used. At least it's always keyed in on the right things for me. Name Assist
