Meet the World: A Brazilian artist plays around with a few of the world's flags.
  • Brilliant. Amazing how closely the American flag resembles the real thing.
  • excellent link 'bashi! I like it as art and I like it as commentary.
  • At first glance the only one that didn't seem like an obvious exaggeration was the American flag but out of curiousity I quickly looked up a couple and the ratios seem about right (just by guessing areas, not by actual measurement). Somalia: 90%+ of women undergo female genital mutilation. I had no idea it was so prevasive. EU: Oil Production: 5.322 million bbl/day (2001) Oil Consumption: 14.54 million bbl/day (2001) From CIA factbook. (I would have thought North Sea production would account for more). I love to see new and creative ways to present information. Great link.
  • Sorry, oil production for EU is 2.648 million bbl/day (2001), which is about 15% of production+consumption.
  • This is so negative. I prefer Happy News! (Being real: Clever stuff.)
  • Sad how the facts aren't exaggerated. I do like how the info is presented though. Very interesting.
  • A clever and revealing way to present social commentary - loved it
  • *sticks head in sand Brilliant.
  • Great work - the choice of the most prominent of the symbols of a nation (and, err, the EU) to illustrate what are mainly failings has a strong impact. Similar to timefactor's point, the China one seemed surprising at first but is probably right on reflection (without going so far as to actually check the figures). The current campaign to universalise 9 years of compulsory education has by no means been plain sailing (most conspicuouly failing the rural areas and the West of course), and even if it were that still leaves most kids out of school by 14.
  • This is an extremely beautiful post. I guess you know the 'challenging' poster campaigns by Benetton, well this Mr Doria has just beaten them with grace and style. Thank for posting this.
  • Nice. I love how the information is used to make the flags represent something else.
  • What can you say? Brilliant. I'd love to see more.
  • They forgot Poland.
  • ..oh yeah. . . Holy roses on spit they forgot Gibraltar as well!!
  • [this is as brilliant as tracy is lovely]
  • This is brilliant. I saw it a while back, and have been trying to find it again for quite a while. Thanks.
