Ricky Gervais podcast Ep. 1. A half-hour of all-new drivel from Ricky Gervais, Stephen Merchant and Karl Pilkington.
  • So far this year, and last, I've managed to avoid the whole pOdCasT ting. R.Gervais however, may be something worth pay attention to.
  • Wolof: Give us your review..
  • I'm a fan o' Gervais' Office. There are some funny bits in this 30 minute episode....but some of it is uncomfortable because it revolves around Gervais & Merchant bullying Karl for his uh, unconventional ideas and muddy thinking. Not as good as the "Bears" on Gervais' website, imo.
  • Downloaded. Now I just need a quiet moment to listen to it.
  • Karl Pilkington sounds awfully naive. However, "faffing" is a lovely word.
  • Er, Karl Pilkington is a comedian.
  • I worked that out after I googled his name and got a bio at the radio station he has a show on, Xfm (Saturdays, 1-3pm).
  • Their show on the Guardian* is basically the very same thing they've been doing for years on Xfm, less the music and the ads - which is a plus. Very very funny. Karl has been like that since the very beginning by the way. *No, I won't use the word podcast, I hate that word. Listening to radio shows on mp3 has nothing to do with Apple and their pretentious toy.
  • Hello koant, lovely to see you popping up again! Unfortunately my participation at your rather excellent site has been quite crap lately; possibly franco monkeys like fraise and roryk might whip over and check it out.
  • thanks Wolof and they would be most welcome!
  • Well, slap me clueless. thanks for setting me straight on Karl, you guys.
  • As someone who has listened to every episode from the xfm days, (obsession, i know), I'm gonna have to go with the theory that Karl is just Karl and there is no "act" going on. Either he's playing it up, in which case he's the funniest man alive, or he's not, in which case he's the funniest man alive.
  • Almost the same here, provocateur: I've listened to a lot of their shows (not quite all but I'm catching up!) and I still don't know whether he's real or not.
  • Thank goodness I'm not the only person who would like to strike the word "podcast" from being with a very large hammer!
  • Okay I listened to it again with the thought that Karl's a comedian and it still doesn't seem that funny . Though I like the part where Karl says why would you want to go places when you've got the telly.
  • Coincidentally, while I was listening to the show, the TV news had a story about this exact link. They included a "podcasting for dummies" story for all the computer less-than-literates out there. It was so cute.
  • you have to admit "Creative-brand-MP3-player-that-does-the-same-things-better-or-cheaper-or-for-that-matter-any-number-of-other-brands-where-you're-not-paying-a-premium-for-perceived-hippness-cast" doesn't have quite the same ring to it.
  • But they had Monkey News! Yay!
  • Funny. What about netcast, or am I missing the McFun of branding?
  • - Ricky, I have noticed that you seem to choose your friends (with the possible exception of Steve) based on their consenting nature towards you "bullying" them. Examples: Karl, Robin Ince and Nigel. Any reason for this? Posted by Josh RG: Well, Josh, I give you the same answer that I've given others: because I like it. I like bullying Karl because he's got a perfectly round head. I challenge anyone to keep their hands to themselves with that sort of temptation.
  • I found this way late. Now all the torrents are dried up and I can't find episodes 3-8. It's available for $5 on iSuck, but me no want pay. Help?
  • Here they are. Enjoy!
