FIND THE NERD "It's all Geek to me!" Humour and all things nerd. Find Greeblings here
  • I heart genuine nerds.
  • I know the author is a bright guy, but I would have appreciated a footnote or two, because he makes some assertions that I'm not sure are valid, or may be being overstated. I think its possible that "nerd behavior" may be learned in some cases and not genetic. Simply playing video games all the time because you really enjoy them may a) cause you not to spend as much time socializing and therefor, not be as good at it, and not indicate some incurable genetic deficit. And yes, I suppose he said that, somewhere, but damn if he didn't go on and on about nerdism being inheritable. Equally likely is for two people with mild asperger's to complement each others alleles and produce a perfectly normal offspring. Of course, nobody wants to study that. Where's the linkage analysis of silicon valley families? What genes are we talking about eh?
  • And yes, I'm a biology nerd, and I only have an EQ deficit on the internet. At least, thats what my Mom tells me when she lets me out of the basement. :-)
  • Children later diagnosed as autistic had lower levels of mercury in their hair than other infants. Right! When I have kids, I'm going to let them play in a paddling pool full of mercury. That'll soon get those levels back up to normal.
  • Further searching through the related links, found these wonderful marketing terms a la "yuppie" (young urban professional) and "nimby" (not in my backyard). We have the depressing SITCOM - Single Income, Two Children, Oppressive Mortgage and the hilarious TOMCAT - Totally Obedient Moron, Cannot Actually Think and the most MoFi appropriate: BANANA - Build Absolutely Nothing Anywhere Near Anyone (-:
