This is certainly the only sport where I would qualify as a lightweight. I like it. The central Europeans would appear to be sumo naturals, what with all the beer and dumplings. Can the USA deploy suitably supersized sumotori?

There are already some American sumo guys around. Akebono attained sumo's highest rank of Yokozuna and Konishiki that of Ozeki. (not that I know what the rankings mean, these two guys are just on TV all the time over here) I seem to remember seeing some dumb looking fat white kid from Texas on TV here last year sometime who got recruited by some stable and had already started training in Japan. So it would seem that more Americans, and not just Hawaiians, are on their way. Former NFL player Bob Sapp was even rumored to have started working on entering sumo, but so far I think the closest he's gotten has been cat-punching it out with Akebono in K1. I think, though, what I liked most about the above site was the pictures. In particular these two.

The Beast is HUGE in Japan. (great video in that last one)
