Blotto. I used to take those "Bush is drinking" stories with a grain of salt. Until now.
  • He really does appear drunk there. I don't want to believe that our president is not only drinking again, but acting drunk in public, but it sure seems like a possiblity.
  • Double po- . . oh.
  • Dou- ... whoa. how'd I miss this when Olbermann showed it?
  • (Link's having trouble now -- I saw it elsewhere this morning.)
  • 1992 wedding 6 years after going sober. More or less.
  • Man, I loving this melt down.
  • OK, I like to bash the bush as much as the next guy, but apart from the floppy arm around the missus, I don't see where he's acting drunk. Help me bash the bush, please.
  • That's because you hate freedom and . . uhh . . a democr- it's hard! Hard to uh . . the brown-skinned people are not . . . But never forget the terr'ble September eleventh, two thousand one. And God bless ya. *smirk*
  • well the slurring at the political rally that starts it off, for one. The puffy face for two. The exaggerated looseness for three. And four to go!
  • 1992 wedding does not appear to be drunk at all. He is just trying to be funny. I quit drinking just over 11 years ago. I hate to think that any non-serious actions or words by me make people think that I am drinking again. As for the video, he sure does sound slurred in a way I have never heard before. Is the audio okay? Would they let him speak in public if they thought he was going to slur?
  • I dunno, I don't see it. Just his usual self, I think.
  • I'd say he's operating at less than peak capacity (for him, at least), but is that drunkenness, cold-medicine-head, or just plain worn out and tiredness? I can't tell. But he definitely looks to me at least slightly impaired.
  • Guess his handlers are getting tired. "Awww, sheez, let him do as he pleases. What, is he gonna lose the re-election or what?"
  • Wow, he absolutely looks way drunk in the recent news footage. The 1992 wedding video is interesting. I think he's behaving oddly there, although it's not perfectly clear like the recent stuff. Maybe it's the way he tells basically the same joke again and again, without seeming to realize that it wasn't even that funny the first time, or the way he can't seem to hold still or look at anyone or anything in particular, or the flat, nearly affectless tone of voice. Or maybe it's just the way all those things combine to make him seem so aloof, so distant from the here-and-now, as if he's just a passenger in his body, letting his "party wit" brain-cells do the driving.
  • I love to take any opportunity to bash Bush but I too am having a hard time seeing drunkeness in this footage. I kept waiting for something obvious but I got nada. He just looks tired and trying to ham it up for his audience--poorly, as usual.
  • Either Bush is medicated, drinking, or has a significant neurological problem. I don't personally believe he quit drinking when he said he did. I have great experience of alcoholics. If he truly is an alcoholic, then he's not remained 'on the wagon' for all that time. It's not possible for him in his situation. He's not a real 'born again' Christian and has steadfastly avoided identifying himself as such. His churchgoing has actually been rather lackluster. For that reason I doubt very much whether faith plays much of a part in his teetotalism; more like a play to the religious right in a PR sense. So what is the real reason for him to stay off the bottle, and more to the point, if he was drinking, even now and again, who would reveal this? I tend to think he has some kind of stroke shit going on, though. He's not all there.
  • Hmmm. I believe Bush to be thick-tongued and inarticulate, which is a political liability, but not necessarily a leadership issue. On these clips, I want to say he is trying in his awkward way to be exuberant. But lately he seems increasingly out of touch and control, and with Cheney the default, this somewhat concerns me. If both men are in poor health/mental capacity, we have a problem. Odd that things might hinge on this....
  • By the way this is not a self-contained double post. It is a two-headed, ambidextrous post. Here at orococo industries, we try to provide links for either hand, because who knows what's in your other windows?
  • Presidential conspiracy theories aren't always so far-fetched. Nixon was a crook. Reagan was senile. However, I didn't really see anything in that video to convince me that he's drunk.
  • He's drunk on the blood of the innocent brown-skinned children who have been mutiliated or simply burned alive by his corrupt fascist war machine that Republicans have armed through their silence and comfortable, middle-class fear of foreigners (and justice).
  • Or it could be bourbon. I dunno.
  • could I ask a favor of y'all? Could you give some warning when you link to a WMV? It make my work computer go all screwey. Thanks.
  • I'd second the stroke theory, Chy. But I don't doubt he's had a little taste now and again either. See also This thread for more Wiggledy-wackity Shrubya oddness.
  • I don't see any proof he's drunk in this, at all. And I'm first in line for any bash-Bush party.
  • In addtion to whining about the wmv, I should say that imho the drinking thing is not a big issue. More important is that he's a sociopathic, intellectually lazy tool. That's what makes him dangerous as president.
  • Ditto. He just looks tired to me.
  • I agree, Koko. He looks tired of drinking the blood of the innocent brown-skinned children who have been mutiliated or simply burned alive by his corrupt fascist war machine that Republicans have armed through their silence and comfortable, middle-class fear of foreigners (and justice).
  • Well, wouldn't you be? Cut the guy some slack, fer cryin' out loud!
  • NO!
  • OBEY!
  • eep
  • YES!
  • You people are sick. As in hinky, the new tres chic word in my parts.
